19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden title for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with former trainer Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

He rescued 4 early-game chances in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
